About this class

The journey to becoming a capable long-range shooter begins in the right place, with a specific flow of information. Our private 1,500-yard range in Yakima has become regarded as simple but challenging introductory long-range venues in the country, precisely because it is unforgiving enough to teach, yet forgiving enough for a new shooter to experience real success interpreting conditions.

  • Known-distance steel from 300 to 1,500 yards with berms every 100 yards (300–1,000 yd) and 1,400 & 1,500 yd
  • Four pieces of reactive steel on every berm (4 MOA down to 1 MOA) so you can learn how to spot misses and refine wind calls with smaller targets.
  • The range generally provides 270° of wind direction change in a single day across rolling terrain that reveals how valleys, ridges, and draws alter wind flow; perfect for learning real-world wind without overwhelming the beginner.
  • Ever-present big spring flows, and taunting summer thermals that command focus and attention.
  • More than 60 additional field-style steel targets (including a mover) scattered in natural environments for skill building once your foundation is firmly laid.
  • Primitive, but beautiful, and most importantly distraction-free; exactly what a student needs when the goal is pure learning.

There are plenty of 2 and 3-day “long-range” courses that promise proficiency in a weekend. With over 30 years behind a scoped rifle and two decades teaching civilians and military snipers alike, I can tell you with certainty: two days is not enough to build real, repeatable skill. Even three days will usually leave students feeling like they’d really like one more day to fully lock in.

Our 4-day Introduction to Long Range Shooting class is different because it is built from the ground up to create competent, confident, and capable riflemen. Independence is the most important thing here. My goal? Build shooters who leave able to do things on their own, not just repeat what they were told in class. I want you to be able to have all the information and tools you need to be able execute these skills on your own, spending more time in valuable practice.

Whether you’re a complete beginner who has never fired a precision rifle or an experienced hunter/shooter looking to extend their comfort zones, this is the most comprehensive foundational course available anywhere.

What You Will Learn

  • Rifle Safety & Weapons Handling Skills
  • The Circle of Components – understanding what actually matters and what is in your control with your precision shooting system.
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship – building a rock-solid foundation is the only way. This is the art.
  • Basic External Ballistics & Trajectory Validation -- this is the science.
  • Atmospheric effects and what really matters at the ranges you’ll be shooting at.
  • Our proven 4-Step Wind Reading Blueprint
  • Effective use (and limitations) of laser rangefinders
  • Introduction to alternate shooting positions
  • Introduction to mental management and target-focused shooting.

Who Should Attend

Everyone from absolute beginners who have never touched a precision rifle to veteran hunters, competitive shooters, and even former military snipers. I’ve had brand new shooters share the same firing line as seasoned 20 year military snipers and everybody evolves in this curriculum.

If you’re serious about long-range shooting; whether for competition, hunting Western big game, or simply the satisfaction of ringing steel in the wind; this is where your journey begins.

The Yakima high desert is raw, windy, and honest.

It will expose every flaw, then reward every correction.

Spots are limited and fill fast.

Come see why graduates of this course have become the standard others try to reach.
